Patio restoration, Capel, Surrey

This was quite a challenging landscaping project in that the Stonemaket Millstone original paving that used to come in 9 different sizes, had to be lifted and re-laid with minimal wastage, especially as cuts around the radius had to be done properly.

The original paving hadn’t been laid on a correct sub-base so unfortunately the only option was a complete lift and start again for the patio.

The whole area was excavated to 175mm and MOT type one industry standard sub-base compacted on geotextile membrane. Drainage gullies were installed and plumbed into the existing rain water drains. The paving was re-laid on a full bed of wet sharp sand and cement mix to ensure no movement again in the future. Finally pointing with a good strong mix and utilising tuck tools to create a recessed finish which accentuates the paving. A considerable improvement I think you will agree!
